Govt Announces an Increase in Labour Grants on Labour Day

ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Federal Minister for Chaudhry Salik Hussain addressed the International Labor Day Conference held in Islamabad, highlighting recent developments aimed at worker welfare and skill development.

Speaking at the event, the minister announced that the Marriage Grant has been increased from Rs400,000 to Rs500,000, while the Death Grant has been raised from Rs800,000 to Rs1,000,000.

He further stated that a 15 per cent increase in EOBI pension has been proposed and the summary has been submitted to the federal cabinet. After approval, 500,000 pensioners are expected to benefit from the adjustment in basic pension.

The minister said that the purpose of these steps is to make workers’ lives easier. “The alliances with other countries have been established to improve the health and skills of workers,” he added.

He also noted that the government has initiated several projects aimed at aligning the professional skills of youth with international standards, with a particular focus on vocational and technical training to meet the demands of the global market.

During a visit, Tajikistan’s minister remarked that while there is a business market in his country for jewelry item makers, there is a lack of professionals in the field. Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development is working to align the skills of the children of the workers with international market standards, says Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
