ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) – Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) is set to meet today (Thursday) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in response to India’s recent actions following the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The high-level meeting will bring together senior civil and military leadership to assess the internal and external implications of what Pakistan terms a “false flag operation” by India. The committee will deliberate on a measured and strategic response to what officials have described as India’s “irresponsible and impulsive” decisions, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and diplomatic downgrades.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed the NSC session and emphasized the need for an “appropriate response” to the steps taken by India in the aftermath of the attack. Speaking to a private news channel, Asif strongly condemned terrorism, reiterating that Pakistan has been one of its worst victims for decades.
“Pointing fingers at Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident is both unjustified and baseless,” Asif said. “How can a country so deeply scarred by terrorism be accused of sponsoring it?”
He further stated that while Pakistan rejects terrorism in all forms, the possibility of the Pahalgam incident being a “false flag operation” cannot be dismissed.
The NSC meeting is expected to review all recent developments and formulate a cohesive strategy amid rising tensions with India, as regional stability once again hangs in the balance.
