Amid rising tensions between Pakistan and India, Pakistani security sources claim that three Indian fighter jets—including two Rafales and an SU-30—as well as a drone, were shot down following airspace violations. One Rafale and the SU-30 were reportedly downed near Bahawalpur, while a second Rafale crashed in Pulwama, Indian-administered Kashmir.
All Pakistani aircraft involved returned safely with no losses. Pakistan’s Air Defence also confirmed shooting down a Rafale jet near Bahawalpur after it allegedly entered Pakistani airspace early Tuesday morning.
Information Minister Atta Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s defensive stance, denying any role in the Pulwama attack and reaffirming the country’s commitment to regional peace. He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had offered cooperation in investigating the Pulwama incident, which India ignored.
Tarar confirmed the downing of two Indian jets and criticized India’s response to the Pulwama attack, calling Pakistan’s actions a “befitting reply” to Indian aggression.
Pakistan reiterated its desire for peace but warned it would defend its sovereignty at all costs. The situation remains tense, with further developments expected.
