ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Pakistan strongly condemned what it described as a dangerously provocative and deceitful missile attack by India on May 7, calling it a reckless escalation based on fabricated pretexts and a deliberate attempt to stir communal unrest.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and military sources, India fired four Prithvi ballistic missiles under the false pretense of targeting a supposed terrorist camp. The missiles were aimed at major Pakistani cities, including Lahore, with one missile landing near the city of Kharian.

In what Pakistani officials have called a “malicious and insidious ploy,” three of the missiles landed not in Pakistan, but within Indian territory—specifically in Amritsar, the capital of Indian Punjab. The move, Islamabad suggests, was part of a calculated strategy by India’s ruling Hindutva-aligned government to falsely blame Pakistan for civilian casualties, provoke internal unrest, and incite communal tensions, particularly among the Sikh population.

“This was not just an act of aggression—it was a dangerous game with civilian lives, designed to inflame internal divisions for political gain,” a senior Pakistani official stated.

The government emphasized that Pakistan categorically denies any role in attacks on Indian soil and reiterated its commitment to protecting the lives of civilians, including those in Indian Punjab. “Pakistan holds deep cultural, religious, and historical ties with the Sikh community and would never endanger their lives,” the official added.

This latest incident follows a pattern of hostile Indian actions, with Pakistan accusing its neighbor of exploiting internal religious and ethnic fault lines for short-term political advantage.

Despite what it termed repeated provocations, Pakistan affirmed that it has so far responded with strategic restraint. Officials stressed that all defensive measures have been strictly in accordance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

“Our actions have been measured, mature, and focused solely on self-defence,” the statement read, adding that any further escalation would be solely India’s responsibility.

Pakistan has called on the international community to urgently investigate and condemn India’s actions, warning that such reckless behavior could destabilize the region and inflame broader communal and geopolitical tensions.
