ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) – Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized on Saturday that the responsibility for de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan lies with India. In an interview with BBC News, he stated that Pakistan, as a responsible nation, had only responded to India’s aggression under Article 51 of the UN Charter, asserting its right to self-defense.

Tarar stressed that Pakistan had shown significant restraint while India had continuously attacked civilian areas over the past four days. “We have merely exercised our right to self-defense,” he explained.

The information minister rejected Indian claims that Pakistan had targeted civilians, clarifying that Pakistan’s actions were focused solely on military installations. He further pointed out that it was India that had attacked civilian populations in Pakistan.

Addressing the incident in Pahalgam, Tarar denied any Pakistani involvement, reiterating that Islamabad had called for a transparent and joint investigation into the matter.

Additionally, Tarar revealed that Pakistan had been in discussions with China and Saudi Arabia regarding the regional situation, seeking support for peace and stability in the region.
