
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Lachin, Azerbaijan on Tuesday after concluding an official visit to Iran. He was received by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and is set to attend a trilateral summit with leaders from Turkey and Azerbaijan, focusing on economic cooperation and regional connectivity.
PM Shehbaz is also expected to meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, where he will thank Azerbaijan for its support during Pakistan’s tensions with India.
Key Outcomes from Iran Visit
Earlier, in Tehran, PM Shehbaz met Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Talks focused on bilateral ties, Gaza, regional peace, and Iran’s nuclear program. PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s openness to dialogue with India but warned against any aggression from New Delhi.
Ayatollah Khamenei praised Pakistan’s leadership in the Muslim world and called for unity on Gaza. The two sides also discussed the Pak-Iran gas pipeline and developments in Afghanistan, agreeing to continue cooperation for regional stability.
