Chairing a high-level meeting at the NHA headquarters, the minister reviewed the authority’s annual maintenance plans and issued a series of key directives aimed at improving road infrastructure and public convenience.
He stressed that timely maintenance is critical not only for enhancing travel comfort but also for ensuring the longevity of the road network. “Our objective is to make travel pleasant and hassle-free for everyone,” he said, while commending the performance of the new NHA team and acknowledging noticeable improvements in operations.
Abdul Aleem Khan issued specific instructions for the immediate start of construction work on the densely populated Tarnol-Kohat Road section and the upgradation of the Gujranwala Bypass. He also directed the installation of proper lighting and fencing on roads passing through Kamra Cantonment to improve safety and security.
The minister made it clear that NHA officials are expected to deliver results, with no room for complacency. He underscored the need for transparency and accountability, stating that all maintenance projects must be approved by the appropriate forums and executed with a focus on cost-efficiency, quality, and long-term benefit.
Furthermore, he ordered that any defects or issues on highways be addressed without delay to avoid inconvenience to commuters.
