SWABI (RNN TV) — A powerful cloudburst struck Dalori Gadoon in Swabi on Monday, leaving at least 15 people feared dead and several homes destroyed. Officials confirmed that 12 houses were completely submerged as floodwaters swept through the mountainous village, trapping families and causing widespread devastation.
Landslides Block Relief Efforts
The heavy downpour also triggered multiple landslides, cutting off access to the affected areas and slowing rescue operations. In Bada Gadoon, a major landslide buried vehicles under rocks and mud, further complicating relief efforts.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nasrullah said the water flow was dangerously fast, adding that machinery and rescue teams had been dispatched to clear blocked routes.
Rescue Operations and Emergency Response
Rescue teams from Haripur and Mardan were deployed to support local authorities, while police, Civil Defense, and volunteers joined operations on the ground. Nearby hospitals were placed on high alert, with medicines, camps, and relief supplies prepared for victims.
Govt Monitoring and Rising Concerns
According to the DC, the chief minister and chief secretary are personally overseeing the situation. He appealed to citizens to assist the displaced families, calling it “a critical time to support those who have lost everything.”
Authorities fear the death toll could rise as search teams continue retrieving people trapped under collapsed houses and debris. Residents in surrounding villages have been advised to stay alert amid the ongoing threat of further landslides and flash floods.
