LAHORE (RNN TV) – The National Crime Control Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested Dr Omer Adil , a renowned TV anchor, on charges of posting hate speech on social media.
According to officials, a case (No. 203/2025) has been registered against the accused under sections 11, 12 and 13-A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The inquiry was initiated on a citizen’s complaint, and following the investigation, the allegations were found to be valid, leading to the registration of an FIR.
Further investigation is under way.
Earlier, Dr Omer Adil had been summoned a second time by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore Circle regarding allegations of hate speech and defamation through social media.
The summons comes after Dr Adil failed to appear for the first hearing despite being previously called upon to record his statement. Dr Adil cited heart pain as the reason for his inability to appear at the first summons August 17, 2025, as explained to the FIA.

It is pertinent to mention here that the complaint was filed by Talat Mehmood, who claims that Dr Adil posted defamatory content online.
The NCCIA has now directed Dr Adil to appear in person on August 21, 2025, at 12:00pm and bring relevant documents. Non-compliance could result in legal consequences under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Dr Adil has yet to comment on the allegations.
