LAHORE (RNN TV) – – The Journalist Panel registered a decisive victory in the 2026 Lahore Press Club (LPC) elections, retaining control of most key offices and underlining its continued dominance over the rival Grand Alliance.
Arshad Ansari was elected president with a commanding 1,283 votes, comfortably defeating Grand Alliance candidate Azam Chaudhry, who secured 711 votes. The result marked Ansari’s return to the top post and set the tone for the rest of the contest.
In the race for senior vice-president, Journalist Panel’s Salman Qureshi won convincingly, polling 1,125 votes against Grand Alliance’s Saima Nawaz, who received 839.
The only notable setback for the Journalist Panel came in the vice-president contest, where Grand Alliance’s Nasira Atiq emerged victorious with 1,045 votes, edging out Mudassir Hussain Tatla, who secured 882 votes.
The Journalist Panel went on to secure other major offices. Afzal Talib was elected general secretary with 1,059 votes, while Grand Alliance’s Abdul Majeed Sajid obtained 814 votes. Independent candidate Ijaz Mirza trailed far behind with 103 votes.

A close contest for joint secretary saw Journalist Panel’s Imran Sheikh narrowly defeat Grand Alliance nominee Rana Muhammad Ikram by 1,002 votes to 959.
The treasurer’s seat also remained with the Journalist Panel, as Salik Nawaz polled 1,035 votes, surpassing Hasnain Chaudhry’s 926.
With victories across most positions, the Journalist Panel has effectively secured a near clean sweep, reinforcing its grip on the Lahore Press Club and leaving the Grand Alliance facing serious questions about its electoral strategy ahead of future polls.
