
LAHORE (RNN TV) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz telephoned her Khyber Pakhtunkhwa counterpart, Ali Amin Gandapur, on Saturday to express condolences over the tragic loss of lives caused by recent floods in the province.
Maryam Nawaz conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and also expressed grief over the martyrdom of personnel in a recent helicopter crash. She assured that the Punjab government was fully prepared to provide all possible assistance and resources to help the people and administration of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in this difficult time.
“The people of Punjab share the sorrow of their brothers and sisters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” she said, while also extending condolences on behalf of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
In response, CM Ali Amin Gandapur thanked Maryam Nawaz for her solidarity and appreciated the assurance of support from Punjab.
Flood devastation in KP
Torrential rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods have caused widespread destruction across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), leaving at least 250 people dead, dozens injured, and many still missing.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 210 people have lost their lives in KP districts including Battagram, Bajaur, and Mansehra, where cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods wreaked havoc. Among the dead are 184 men, 14 women, and 12 children. The injured include 12 men, two women, and one child.
Heavy rains also damaged 45 houses — seven completely destroyed and 38 partially damaged — along with three schools. Bajaur and Battagram districts have suffered the most destruction, where rescue and relief operations remain underway.
