RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has taken full responsibility for the medical treatment of two Pakistani children suffering from congenital heart disease, who were recently deported from India without receiving care.

Following the Pahalgam incident, the Indian government expelled the children—Abdullah (9) and Mansa (7)—along with their father, Shahid Ahmed, who had traveled to India after a seven-year visa struggle to seek life-saving treatment. The family was ordered to leave within 48 hours after medical assessments had already begun.

The children are now receiving care at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi. Medical officials confirmed both suffer from Tetralogy of Fallot, a serious heart defect, and will undergo staged surgeries. Brigadier Dr. Khurram Akhtar emphasized that AFIC has the expertise and facilities to treat such complex cases to international standards.

Shahid Ahmed condemned the Indian government’s actions as inhumane but expressed deep gratitude to General Asim Munir and AFIC for stepping in and providing high-quality care.
