RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorists and their infrastructure operating against the country, stressing that the use of Afghan soil for attacks would not be tolerated.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks during an interaction with ulema from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community, where matters related to national security and social harmony were discussed.
The COAS emphasised that the Afghan Taliban must ensure that Afghan territory is not used for terrorism against Pakistan, adding that the armed forces would continue to conduct precise, intelligence-based operations against militant elements wherever necessary.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts and proactive diplomacy aimed at regional de-escalation.
Underscoring the role of religious scholars, Field Marshal Munir said ulema had a vital responsibility in promoting unity, tolerance and national cohesion, particularly in countering misinformation, sectarian narratives and externally driven destabilisation efforts.
He stressed that religious sentiments should not be exploited to incite violence, adding that unrest in Pakistan triggered by incidents in other countries would not be tolerated.
The participating ulema expressed their support for peace and stability, strongly condemning violence carried out in the name of religion. They also reaffirmed their backing for law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and harmony in the country, the statement added.
