ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has reaffirmed that Pakistan will deliver a swift and decisive response to any ceasefire violation by India.
In an interview , the DG ISPR emphasized that any threat to Pakistan’s sovereignty, security, or territorial integrity will be met with a “crushing response.” He cautioned that both Pakistan and India are nuclear-armed nations, and any serious escalation could lead to devastating consequences for the region.
He further warned that any Indian miscalculation regarding military action against Pakistan would be highly detrimental not only to both nations but to regional stability as well. He added that global powers, including the United States, are now more aware of India’s aggressive posture, particularly in the context of nuclear threats.
Commenting on the Kashmir issue, Lieutenant General Chaudhry criticized India’s continued military presence in the region and its framing of the matter as an internal issue. He reiterated that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in line with the United Nations Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced that the Pakistan-India ceasefire has been extended until May 18. The extension followed a hotline conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries.
Dar, speaking in the Senate, noted that the initial ceasefire was agreed upon during a DGMO-level contact on May 10 following Operation Bunyanum Marsos, with the truce initially set to last until May 12 before the latest extension.
