Donald Trump US President

ISLAMABAD (WEB DESK) — Speculation surrounding a potential visit by US President Donald Trump to Pakistan was put to rest on Wednesday, as the Foreign Office denied any such plans, and Geo News issued a formal retraction of an earlier report that had gone viral.

The report, initially aired by Geo News, claimed that Trump was expected to arrive in Pakistan in the near future. The news segment quickly gained traction, triggering widespread debate regarding the state of U.S.-Pakistan relations. However, the channel later acknowledged the information was unverified and subsequently issued a public apology.

Azaz Syed, the journalist who reported the story, posted a statement on social media expressing deep regret over the error. “Today, I feel deeply embarrassed to admit that I reported an incorrect date regarding U.S. President Donald Trump,” he wrote. “The information I shared was premature and not yet confirmed. I take full responsibility and extend my sincere apologies to my followers and to Geo News, which has always placed its trust in me.”

Geo News also broadcast a correction, citing the Foreign Office spokesperson, who confirmed that no visit by Mr Trump was scheduled and that the office had no knowledge of any planned trip to Islamabad.

Sources have indicated that Mr Trump is instead scheduled to visit the United Kingdom on September 18.

The episode has reignited discussions around media ethics and the necessity of verifying sensitive diplomatic information before dissemination. The apology and retraction have been seen as an important step in maintaining transparency and accountability within Pakistan’s media landscape.
