Security forces killed five suspected “Indian-sponsored terrorists” in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district earlier this week, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
Operation Details
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the raid was carried out on the night of September 14–15 after intelligence indicated the presence of militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan, a group Pakistan accuses India of supporting to fuel unrest.
The ISPR said troops engaged the hideout, leading to an exchange of fire in which five militants were killed. Arms, ammunition, and explosives were seized from the site. The men were allegedly involved in multiple attacks in the area. A sanitisation operation is ongoing to clear the surroundings of any remaining militants.
“Pakistan’s security forces are fully committed to eradicating Indian-sponsored terrorism and will bring all perpetrators of such acts to justice,” the statement said.
Recent Incidents
The latest operation followed an attack in Balochistan’s Kech district on Monday, in which five soldiers, including an officer, were martyred.
Over the weekend, security forces conducted two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts, killing 31 militants. Earlier, on September 12, four more “Indian-sponsored terrorists” were killed in an IBO in Mastung, Balochistan.
Separately, two civilians were seriously injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Khuzdar’s Naal area on September 7.
Last month, the ISPR reported that 50 terrorists were killed during a four-day clearance operation, which thwarted an attempt by militants to cross into Balochistan from Afghanistan.
