Hamza Ali Abbasi has addressed long-standing rumors about his departure from the entertainment industry, clarifying that he never officially quit acting — he was simply on a spiritual hiatus.
Speaking on a recent podcast, Hamza explained, “I said I was taking a break, not quitting showbiz. But people took short clips from my video and ran with the narrative that I had left acting for good. That was never true.”
The Alif star, widely known for his intense performances and outspoken personality, shared that his temporary break was motivated by a desire to deepen his understanding of faith.
“I went to Dallas to study under Javed Ahmad Ghamidi sahib,” he said. “He teaches the balance between deen (faith) and dunya (worldly life). I always intended to return to acting — just with more clarity and purpose.”
Hamza also criticized the media for misrepresenting his words, noting that sensational headlines distorted his message. “Unfortunately, headlines here are often created without context. People assume showbiz and Islam are opposites, which fueled the false story. Suddenly, everyone was saying ‘Hamza quits media for Islam’ — something I never said.”
His clarification comes as welcome news to fans who have long awaited his return to the screen. With his renewed perspective and spiritual grounding, Hamza’s comeback is expected to bring even greater depth to his performances.
