ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has instructed Junaid Akbar to resign from his role as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), according to party sources.
The directive was reportedly delivered in writing by Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, to senior PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Salman Akram Raja. Sources indicate that Khan wants Junaid Akbar to dedicate his efforts to strengthening the party’s grassroots activities, particularly organizing weekly rallies and conventions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In a related development, Omar Ayub has been nominated as the likely replacement for the PAC chairmanship.
Commenting on the situation, Junaid Akbar said he is prepared to step down whenever Imran Khan formally instructs him to do so. However, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja declined to provide a comment on the issue.
