ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday strongly condemned India’s recent missile and drone strikes on Pakistani territory during a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The conversation focused on the rapidly escalating security situation in South Asia.

During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz informed Secretary Rubio that the Indian strikes had resulted in the martyrdom of 31 civilians and injured 57 others. He described the attacks as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that such provocations pose a grave threat to peace and stability in the region.

“The people of Pakistan are outraged by India’s unprovoked aggression,” PM Shehbaz said, reaffirming that Pakistan reserves the right to self-defence under the UN Charter.

Secretary Rubio expressed concern over the deteriorating situation and emphasized the United States’ commitment to promoting peace in the region. Both leaders agreed to maintain communication as tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors continue to rise.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed appreciation for former U.S. President Donald Trump’s concern regarding the ongoing crisis in South Asia.

In a separate diplomatic move, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar contacted the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, to brief him on the current hostilities and violations by India.

According to the Foreign Office, Dar informed the OIC chief that India’s missile and drone attacks are not only a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty but also constitute acts of war. He emphasized that these strikes have led to civilian casualties and represent a serious challenge to regional peace.

In response, the OIC Secretary General reaffirmed the organisation’s full support for Pakistan, highlighting the country’s founding role in the OIC and its significance to the Muslim world.

Pakistan continues to urge the international community to take immediate notice of India’s actions and play a proactive role in de-escalating the situation before it spirals further.
