ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Thursday, granting approval to 28 major development projects aimed at boosting sustainable growth across Pakistan.
The meeting, held in Islamabad, brought together federal ministers, provincial planning officials, secretaries from key divisions, and representatives from Gilgit-Baltistan and the National Highway Authority.
Projects in critical sectors — including energy, education, health, environment, infrastructure, and public administration — were discussed and cleared. According to the official statement, these initiatives are designed to strengthen the economy by improving institutional frameworks and ensuring efficient public service delivery.
Key plans include upgrading energy infrastructure to meet rising demand, expanding digital learning platforms, modernising hospitals, and introducing measures to improve environmental sustainability. Strategic infrastructure development in underserved areas is also part of the approved package.
Dar stressed that the projects form part of a broader strategy for economic recovery and long-term prosperity, with a focus on job creation, better service delivery, and enhanced regional connectivity.
Separately, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s commitment to accelerating economic growth in the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Meeting with a delegation of tribal leaders led by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the PM said all possible steps were being taken to improve livelihoods and infrastructure in the region.
