LAHORE (RNN TV) — The Jinnah Institute of Cardiology in Lahore, initially launched under the previous PTI-led government, has officially been renamed the Maryam Nawaz Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases following formal approval by the Punjab cabinet.

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique confirmed the development, explaining that the renaming reflects the hospital’s transition into a fully independent and autonomous medical facility.

“The hospital is no longer an extension of Jinnah Hospital. It will now operate under its own board and administration,” Rafique stated.

Modern Healthcare Vision

Rafique emphasized that the newly named institute is being developed with a futuristic vision aimed at elevating healthcare standards to international levels. Key features of the project include:

  • AI-powered and robotic medical equipment

  • Infrastructure supporting health tourism

  • Specialized services designed to attract international cardiac patients

“We are building a world-class cardiac care facility. With cutting-edge technology and a focus on health tourism, we anticipate patients from other countries seeking treatment here,” the minister added.

He further noted that the name change has already been reflected in the provincial budget documents and other official records.
