LAHORE (RNN TV) – Kamran Lashari, Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), has resigned from his position citing personal reasons.
However, reports indicate that his resignation may have been influenced by a disagreement over the decision to transfer the management of the Shahi Qila (Lahore Fort) and Shalimar Gardens—two iconic historical sites—to the Department of Archeology.
Lashari submitted his resignation letter, dated April 23, 2025, to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. In the letter, he expressed his dedication to promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage and boosting national and international tourism during his tenure.
“I have endeavored to fulfill my responsibilities with utmost sincerity, striving to enhance the cultural image of Pakistan and attract tourism,” he wrote. “However, due to personal reasons, I find myself unable to continue in this role. Therefore, in accordance with Section 6(6) of the Walled City of Lahore Act, 2012, I tender my resignation from the position of Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority.”
