LAHORE (RNN TV) — ISLAMABAD: In a rare show of unity, the National Assembly on Monday unanimously passed a resolution expressing unwavering support for the Palestinian people amid ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, the session saw all political parties—both from the government and opposition benches—join hands in condemning what they described as “criminal acts” committed by Israel against innocent civilians in Gaza.
The resolution, tabled by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, strongly denounced the Israeli military’s continued assault on Gaza, highlighting that over 1,600 Palestinians have been killed since the latest wave of violence began on March 18.
“The House expresses complete solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters and condemns the international community’s silence on the issue,” the resolution read.
Key demands outlined in the resolution included:
-
The immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
-
Full UN membership and recognition of the State of Palestine
-
Urgent and decisive action from the global community to stop the violence
The session was later adjourned indefinitely.
Speaking during the session, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar emphasized that the issue of Palestine should not be politicized. Without naming individuals, he criticized those attempting to exploit the matter for political gain and urged for collective unity.
“This House must remain a sacred space for such important discussions. Politics should not be done on the Palestinian issue,” he said.
Reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing stance, the minister said, “It’s clearly written on our passports—travel to Israel is not permitted. Pakistan does not recognize Israel and never will.”
Tarar also praised South Africa for taking Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over alleged genocide, calling it a courageous move that reflects global conscience.
Concluding his speech on a heartfelt note, he said, “We love the land of Palestine. Through our words and actions, we must show that Pakistan stands with the people of Palestine in every circumstance.”
