ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif arrived in Islamabad on Thursday amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India.

According to party sources, Nawaz Sharif is set to hold crucial consultations with senior party leaders and close aides regarding the evolving national security and regional situation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to brief the PML-N leader in detail on the current wartime developments.

A high-level consultative meeting of the PML-N leadership is also anticipated, where future political and strategic responses to the crisis will be discussed.

The visit comes in the wake of a significant rise in hostilities, with Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif condemning India’s recent airstrike as a “cowardly act of aggression.” The strike, carried out overnight, resulted in the martyrdom of 31 Pakistani civilians and injuries to 57 others.

In a statement on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their prompt and forceful retaliation, stating that the military had turned a dark night into “a moonlit symbol of victory.”
