LONDON (RNN TV) — Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has reiterated his party’s role in strengthening the nation’s economy and defence, calling on political forces to prioritize performance alongside politics.
Speaking to reporters outside his residence at Avenfield House in London, Mr Sharif stated that the PML-N had been instrumental in steering the country back toward economic stability after setbacks caused by the previous administration. “People vote for those who deliver. Progress must go hand-in-hand with politics,” he remarked.
Emphasizing his party’s achievements, Mr Sharif cited major infrastructure projects such as motorways, power plants, and dams, asserting that these initiatives played a critical role in boosting development. He also highlighted the relative stability of the Pakistani rupee during his government’s tenure. “For four years, the rupee held its ground under our leadership,” he claimed.
Turning to matters of national security, Mr Sharif credited the PML-N with making significant strides in Pakistan’s defence capabilities. He pointed to the party’s role in making the country a nuclear power and its involvement in the development of JF-17 fighter jets in partnership with China. He further claimed the PML-N was responsible for introducing missile technology in Pakistan.
Commenting on the recent by-election in Sambrial, where the PML-N secured victory, Mr Sharif said the result was a reflection of public trust in the party’s development-focused agenda. “The people are fully aware of who has truly served the country,” he said.
Without naming political opponents, Mr Sharif criticised rival parties for failing to deliver tangible results. “Let the people judge by comparing our record with that of others,” he said.
He concluded by urging the nation to show gratitude for the progress achieved and to acknowledge those who had contributed to Pakistan’s advancement. “As a nation, we must thank Allah and remember who worked for Pakistan’s future,” he stated.
Mr Sharif reaffirmed that the PML-N remained committed to national development across all sectors and would continue working toward a stable and prosperous Pakistan.
