SHARJAH (RNN TV) — A groundbreaking flying car developed by Dutch company PAL-V has been unveiled at the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park. This innovative two-seater vehicle, which functions both as a car and an aircraft, is priced at Dh2.9 million (approximately PKR 21 crore) and is expected to take flight in UAE skies by 2027, pending aviation approvals.

The flying car features foldable propellers, allowing it to seamlessly switch between road driving and air travel. With a flying range of up to 500 kilometers, the vehicle is designed to be both practical and safe, offering new possibilities in emergency medical services, defense, personal transport, and business travel. It also presents a more cost-effective and safer alternative to helicopters.

Robert Dingemanse, CEO of PAL-V, expressed optimism about the future of flying taxis in the UAE. The company has already received a significant order of 100 flying cars from UAE-based aviation firm Jetex. PAL-V is also working towards making future models more environmentally friendly, focusing on sustainable technologies.

This development marks a major milestone in urban mobility, especially for cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It’s not just about luxury—it’s about transforming how people move in increasingly congested urban spaces.

If all goes according to plan, the UAE could become one of the first countries in the world to introduce flying cars for public and commercial use, positioning itself at the forefront of next-generation transportation.
