RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Saturday successfully conducted a flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, the military’s media wing said the Taimoor air-launched cruise missile is capable of engaging land and sea targets with high precision at a range of up to 600 kilometres.

The ISPR termed the development a significant milestone in the advancement of Pakistan’s national aerospace and defence capabilities, adding that the missile is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation and guidance system. Designed to fly at very low altitudes, the system can effectively evade hostile air and missile defence systems.

The precision-strike capability of the Taimoor weapon system enhances the PAF’s conventional deterrence and operational flexibility, the statement said, strengthening the country’s overall defence posture.

The flight test was witnessed by senior officers of the Pakistan armed forces, along with scientists and engineers involved in the development of the system.

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the scientists, engineers and PAF personnel on the achievement, lauding their professionalism, dedication and commitment to strengthening national defence. He said the accomplishment reflected Pakistan’s resolve to achieve technological self-sufficiency and maintain a credible conventional deterrent amid a changing regional security environment.

According to the ISPR, the successful test underscores the technical maturity, innovation and self-reliance attained by Pakistan’s defence industry.

The development follows a similar achievement by the Pakistan Navy, which in November last year conducted a successful flight test of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile capable of engaging sea and land targets with high accuracy.
