In a significant step toward strengthening Pakistan’s maritime defence, the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has officially handed over three state-of-the-art hovercraft to the Pakistan Navy.

The handover, which took place in London, marks a major development in enhancing the operational readiness and versatility of Pakistan’s naval forces. Senior officials from the Pakistan High Commission were present at the ceremony.

The hovercraft were built by the renowned British defence firm, Griffon Marine Support, under a bilateral agreement signed in February 2022. These high-performance craft are known for their exceptional speed, and multi-mission capabilities.

Designed to operate across challenging coastal and riverine environments, the hovercraft will greatly improve the Pakistan Navy’s ability to conduct logistical support, patrol, and amphibious operations. Their integration is expected to significantly extend the Navy’s reach and enhance its efficiency in maritime missions.

This transfer reflects growing UK-Pakistan defence cooperation and is viewed as a strategic upgrade to Pakistan’s maritime assets in the face of evolving regional security dynamics.
