On Saturday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to key political leaders from various parties to brief them on Pakistan’s retaliatory measures against India following recent cross-border tensions.
In telephonic conversations with prominent figures such as PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, and others, the Prime Minister discussed the escalating situation at the Line of Control and Pakistan’s official response.
PM Shehbaz emphasized the need for national unity and reassured leaders that the government was vigilantly monitoring developments, underscoring that Pakistan’s sovereignty would be defended at all costs. Political leaders expressed full solidarity with the armed forces and the government, with Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman praising the government’s “firm response” to Indian provocations and advocating for heightened diplomatic efforts to present Pakistan’s position globally.
This outreach comes after heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors, triggered by an alleged Indian strike on Pakistani territory earlier this week.
