In a bid to enhance the quality of science and technology education in Pakistan, the government has extended the deadline for applications to the PM Youth Laptop Scheme 2025. Announced by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the new deadline for students to apply is now June 1.

The initiative, originally launched to improve IT skills and create opportunities for online employment, aims to provide students with the tools they need to thrive in the digital age, potentially helping to reduce the poverty rate in Pakistan.

The PM Youth Laptop Scheme is designed to provide eligible students with laptops, facilitating access to technology that will allow them to pursue online work, further their education, and unlock new career opportunities. This initiative also emphasizes the critical role that science, technology, and IT can play in shaping the future of the nation’s youth.

  • Pakistani Citizenship: Applicants must be residents of Pakistan.

  • Valid ID: Students must possess a valid Pakistani identity card.

  • Enrollment in Recognized Institutions: Students should be enrolled in public sector universities or HEC-approved degree-awarding institutions.

  • Program Level: Eligible programs include PhD, MS, MPhil, or equivalent 18-year programs at HEC-recognized institutions.

Laptop Distribution in Punjab

In a related development, the Punjab government has launched the first phase of its laptop distribution program. The ceremony, held at the Government College University in Faisalabad, saw the participation of Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of technology in empowering students and fostering growth.

With the extended deadline for the PM Youth Laptop Scheme, more students now have the opportunity to benefit from this government initiative, which aims to bridge the digital divide and provide young Pakistanis with the resources they need to succeed in a technology-driven world.
