ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has once again refused to extend legislative support to the federal government, deepening tensions within the ruling coalition ahead of the upcoming National Assembly session.

According to sources, the federal government had approached the PPP for cooperation on key legislative matters, but the party leadership categorically declined. PPP leaders conveyed that while they would attend parliamentary proceedings symbolically, they would not back any government-sponsored legislation.

“The PPP will not support the government in any legislative business,” a senior party insider confirmed, citing dissatisfaction with the federal government’s handling of provincial coordination—particularly growing friction with the Punjab administration.

The development follows escalating tensions between the Sindh and Punjab governments over flood relief management. President Asif Ali Zardari has personally intervened to defuse the situation, speaking with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and summoning him to Karachi for urgent consultations.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Raja Pervez Ashraf met PML-N representatives in the Speaker’s Chamber to discuss parliamentary coordination and the current political situation. The two parties are expected to continue dialogue in a bid to stabilize the coalition amid widening internal rifts.

The dispute, initially triggered by mutual accusations of mismanagement in flood relief efforts, has since evolved into a political confrontation between Sindh and Punjab, adding pressure on the federal government as it struggles to maintain unity among coalition partners.
