PUJ Arshad Ansari Lahore Press Club Elections

LAHORE (RNN TV) — The Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ) has congratulated senior journalist Arshad Ansari and the Journalists Group on their sweeping victory in the Lahore Press Club (LPC) elections, where Mr Ansari was elected president for a record 14th term.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, PUJ President Naeem Hanif, General Secretary Qamar Zaman Bhatti, Senior Vice President Yousaf Raza Abbasi, Vice President Nadeem Zaeem, Joint Secretary Mudassar Hussain Tattla, Sher Ali Khalti, Treasurer Naseem Qureshi, along with members of the executive council, termed the victory “historic”.

The statement said the success reflected Mr Ansari’s sustained commitment to journalists’ welfare, particularly his efforts to realise the Apna Ghar Apni Chhat (Own Home, Own Roof) housing project for journalists, Phase II. It added that the journalists’ community had endorsed this struggle by re-electing him as president and giving a clean sweep to his panel.

Mr Hanif and Mr Bhatti expressed hope that the journalists’ housing colony, Phase II, would materialise within the year. They also voiced optimism that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif would soon lay the foundation stone for the project’s development work.

The PUJ leadership also appreciated Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari for reorganising the project under the Punjab Journalists Housing Foundation Act and for ensuring the practical involvement of the Lahore Press Club in the scheme.
