LAHORE (Web Desk) — The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has reported widespread devastation caused by flooding in rivers Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab, with more than 4.7 million people affected across the province.
According to the latest PDMA report, 104 people have lost their lives in various flood-related incidents, though no new casualties were recorded during the past 24 hours.
Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed said that around 2.56 million residents have so far been evacuated from submerged areas and shifted to safer locations.
To facilitate ongoing relief efforts, authorities have established 372 relief camps, 454 medical camps, and 385 veterinary camps in the affected districts. More than 2.07 million livestock have also been relocated to secure areas, the report noted.
Dam levels a concern
The PDMA warned that water levels at major reservoirs remain critical. Mangla Dam is currently 94 per cent full, while Tarbela Dam has already reached capacity. On the Indian side, Bhakra Dam is at 88pc, Pong Dam at 94pc, and Thein Dam at 88pc, according to officials.
Authorities said that emergency measures remain in place as rescue and medical teams continue operations in the flood-hit areas.
