Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz meeting

LAHORE (RNN TV) — Announcing the major relief for farmers, the Punjab government has granted formal permission for the free movement of wheat within and outside the province.

According to the official notification, there will be no restrictions on the inter-provincial transport of wheat.

The move is part of a newly approved deregulation and free market policy, which has been signed off by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Under the policy, wheat procurement will be carried out by the private sector instead of the government.

This marks the first time private buyers will be allowed to purchase wheat directly in Punjab without government intervention. The provincial authorities have stated that the objective is to streamline wheat trade and eliminate unnecessary transport barriers.
