MOSCOW/ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Russia has voiced its support for the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan, following heightened tensions over the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the two nuclear-armed neighbours and expressed hope for long-term peace and stability in the region.

The development comes as Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both countries — Major General Kashif Abdullah of Pakistan and Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai of India — held a third round of communication earlier today. The military officials reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire and agreed on additional confidence-building measures to maintain calm along the Line of Control (LoC).

Sources say both sides emphasized the importance of restraint and sustained dialogue to preserve peace in the region. The latest communication builds upon understandings reached during earlier contacts this week.

The renewed ceasefire arrangement, facilitated through diplomatic efforts led by the United States and other partner nations, is seen as a promising step toward regional de-escalation.

While no formal joint statements have been released, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, Shafqat Ali Khan, is expected to brief the media later today with further updates.

Earlier, Pakistan welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s willingness to support initiatives aimed at resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute — a long-standing issue with serious implications for South Asian security.
