Siara Tarar Chenab River Flow

CHINIOT (RNN TV) – Former federal minister and Member of the National Assembly (MNA), Saira Afzal Tarar, has dismissed what she described as “false Indian propaganda” regarding the flow of water into Pakistan, asserting that rivers like the Chenab continue to flow with full strength.
During a visit to the banks of the Chenab River in her native district of Chiniot, the PML-N leader recorded a video message in which she criticized New Delhi’s alleged attempts to spread misinformation about water flow under the Indus Waters Treaty.
“By the grace of Allah, the Chenab River is flowing with full vigor. No one has the power to stop the water that rightfully belongs to Pakistan,” she said, addressing both domestic and international audiences.
She went on to state that those claiming they could halt the flow of water into Pakistan “neither have the capability nor the courage.” Stressing Pakistan’s preparedness to safeguard its water rights, she said the nation stood ready to respond to any form of water aggression or “water terrorism” by India.
“With the prayers of the Pakistani nation and the blessings of Allah, these rivers will continue to flow like this. God willing, India’s goal of halting the flow of Pakistan’s rivers will never be accomplished,” she declared.
Relations between Pakistan and India have long been strained over water-sharing issues, particularly surrounding the implementation of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, brokered by the World Bank. The treaty allocates control over the three western rivers — the Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab — to Pakistan, while the eastern rivers — Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej — fall under India’s jurisdiction.
Tensions have periodically flared when either side accuses the other of violating treaty terms, particularly during periods of heightened political or military tension.
