SARGODHA (Web Desk) — The district administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in flood-affected areas of Kot Momin, Sargodha, as rising floodwaters continue to disrupt daily life.
Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Muhammad Waseem announced on Wednesday that schools in the affected region will remain closed from August 27 to September 2 to ensure the safety of students and teachers. He said the step was necessary to avoid risks posed by heavy rains and flooding in the district.
Areas Under Closure and Relief Measures
The decision applies to flood-hit areas of Kot Momin, where authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Relief and rescue operations are ongoing, while residents have been advised to remain cautious during this high-risk period.
DC Waseem, along with District Police Officer Sohaib Ashraf, visited Halalpur, Hayatpur, Madh Ranjha, and other relief camps to review the arrangements for displaced families. Evacuation measures are also underway in villages along the Chenab River, where locals and livestock are being shifted to safer places.
Emergency operations are being carried out jointly by the Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122, and the district administration. Relief camps have been established to provide food, shelter, and medical care for affected communities.
Similar Situation in Pasrur
Earlier, authorities in Pasrur also declared a holiday for all public and private schools after intermittent rains and overflowing drains inundated large parts of the city and surrounding villages.
Officials reported that continuous downpours breached drainage dykes and safety barriers, allowing water to enter more than a hundred villages. Thousands of acres of crops were submerged, while city roads and railway tracks were also flooded, severely affecting transport.
