Following a deadly missile strike by India that killed at least 26 civilians in Pakistan, acclaimed Pakistani actress Mahira Khan took to social media to strongly condemn the attack and criticize the ongoing hostility and hate rhetoric coming from India.

In a passionate message, Mahira stated:
“I’m grateful to live in a country where I’m not told what to say. I have a voice—and I use it. We speak out against injustice at home, and we condemn violence everywhere, even when Pakistan is wrongly blamed without a shred of evidence.”

The early-morning missile assault targeted multiple civilian areas, including homes and places of worship, sparking national outrage and drawing condemnation from international human rights groups. The strike, which killed women and children, has significantly escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Mahira, known for her outspoken stance on peace and justice, also took aim at India’s broader political and media landscape, saying:
“India, your war-driven, hate-filled rhetoric has gone on for years. I’ve seen and felt it myself. Your media feeds division, and your most powerful voices stay silent in the face of genocide and war crimes—not because of censorship, but out of fear.”

Her statement has resonated widely on social platforms, as Pakistani artists and citizens continue to speak out against the violence and call for accountability and peace.

Khan’s message also touched upon the silence of powerful figures in India in the face of the violence, accusing them of being complicit in the conflict by remaining quiet. She added, “In that fear, you claim victory. But to me, that silence is your greatest defeat.”

Despite the grave provocation, Mahira Khan called for restraint from Pakistan, urging her fellow citizens to refrain from responding with violence: “My Pakistan, I love you. May we do the right thing. May we never stoop to that level even after this heinous provocation. May peace prevail. Ameen. Pakistan Zindabad. Pakistan Paaindabad.”
