US President Donald Trump has stated that he wants a “real end” to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, rejecting the idea of a mere ceasefire as both nations continued exchanging fire for a fifth consecutive day on Tuesday.

Following months of Israeli military operations in Gaza — involving widespread destruction of homes, hospitals, and essential infrastructure — Israel has now expanded its offensive. Over the past week, it has launched extensive airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, military facilities, and residential areas, resulting in the deaths of senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians.

Israeli authorities claim the attacks are part of a larger military operation called “Rising Lion”, aimed at curbing Iran’s nuclear program. Tehran, however, maintains its uranium enrichment efforts are strictly for peaceful, civilian purposes.

Key Developments:

  • Three people killed in Iran as cross-border missile strikes persist into a fifth day

  • Trump denies French President Macron’s claim that the US proposed a ceasefire

  • Twenty Muslim nations demand an end to Israeli aggression and urge regional states to join the NPT

  • Several governments advise their citizens to evacuate Iran

  • Iranian state broadcaster reports three employees killed in Israeli strike on its building

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump emphasized his desire to end what he called the “nuclear problem” with Iran rather than simply pause hostilities. “You’re going to find out over the next two days. Nobody’s slowed up so far,” Trump was quoted as saying by CBS journalist Jennifer Jacobs.

He issued a stern warning to Iran, declaring that the United States would “come down so hard” if any harm came to American personnel.

Regarding possible diplomatic engagement, Trump said he might send US Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff or Vice President JD Vance to meet with Iranian officials, but noted that the decision would depend on developments once he returned to Washington.

This stance comes amid growing international concern, as the conflict continues to escalate with significant civilian casualties reported on both sides.
