LAHORE  (Web Desk) — Two men accused of killing two brothers over a dispute of just Rs30 were shot dead in an alleged police encounter in Raiwind, Lahore police confirmed on Thursday.

Encounter Details

According to the Crime Control Department (CCD), a police team from Chohang took the suspects, identified as Owais and Shahzad, to Raiwind for a raid based on their identification.

During the operation, the suspects’ accomplices, led by a man named Tauqir, ambushed the police in an attempt to free them. Police said that amid the exchange of fire, both Owais and Shahzad were killed, while Tauqir and others managed to escape. A search operation has been launched to track them down.

Background of the Case

The two suspects had been booked for the brutal torture and killing of two brothers, Wajid and Rashid, following a quarrel with fruit vendors over just Rs30 in Raiwind.

One brother died at the scene due to severe injuries, while the other succumbed in hospital after slipping into a coma.

The disturbing incident sparked nationwide outrage after a video went viral on social media showing the brothers lying in pools of blood while vendors mercilessly beat them with sticks, as bystanders watched without intervening.

Police initially arrested Shahzad using digital tracking methods, while Owais was later taken into custody in connection with the double murder.
