Azhar Javed Adil Raja

LONDON (RNN TV) —  A senior UK-based journalist, Azhar Javaid, has lodged a formal complaint with the Counter Terrorism Policing team at New Scotland Yard against Adil Raja, a Pakistani national reportedly residing in the United Kingdom, for allegedly facilitating and promoting extremist content online.

According to the complaint, Raja hosted and co-introduced a live audio discussion on October 6, 2025, via the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), featuring Ehsanullah Ehsan — the former spokesperson of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The TTP is a UN-designated terrorist organization responsible for numerous deadly attacks across Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The journalist alleged that during the session, Ehsan was introduced as a “special guest” and used the platform to justify acts of terrorism and glorify extremist violence under the guise of “jihad.” Several participants, reportedly including supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), were said to have endorsed and amplified the remarks in real time to a global audience.

Ehsanullah Ehsan, whose real name remains disputed, has publicly claimed responsibility for several of Pakistan’s most devastating terror attacks, including the 2012 attack on Malala Yousafzai, the 2014 Army Public School massacre in Peshawar that killed 149 people — 132 of them children — and the 2016 Easter bombing in Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, which left more than 70 people dead.

In his letter to authorities, Javaid argued that providing a platform to a known terrorist figure through a UK-based host could constitute a breach of British counterterrorism laws, including the Terrorism Acts of 2000 and 2006, as well as international obligations under UN Security Council resolutions.

He urged the UK Home Office and Counter Terrorism Policing to investigate Raja’s conduct, liaise with X for removal of related content, and coordinate with international partners, including Interpol and Pakistani authorities.

“The act of offering an open forum to a UN-designated terrorist represents a serious threat to public safety and risks radicalizing diaspora audiences,” the complaint stated.

As of publication, British authorities and Adil Raja had not issued an official response to the allegations.
