KARACHI (RNN TV) — Pakistan has closed its airspace to all flights until 12 PM on May 11, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced Saturday, citing escalating military tensions with India along the Line of Control (LoC).
The move comes as the Pakistan Armed Forces launched Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos in retaliation to India’s recent airspace violations and military aggression. According to security sources, Pakistan targeted at least 10 Indian military sites, including major airbases in Pathankot, Udhampur, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and BrahMos missile depots in Beas and Nagrota.
Earlier Friday night, India launched air-to-ground missile strikes on three Pakistani airbases—Nur Khan (Rawalpindi), Murid (Chakwal), and Shorkot—but all Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assets remained unharmed, confirmed DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. He also accused India of firing missiles and drones into Afghanistan and warned of a “befitting response.”
In light of the security situation, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi was evacuated, with foreign nationals relocated to hotels and remaining passengers advised to return home. The airspace closure follows the interception of a drone near Sukkur Airport earlier in the day.
The military has stated it remains fully prepared and committed to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty.
