LAHORE (RNN TV) — Three individuals have been sentenced to seven years in prison for their involvement in the honey-trapping and kidnapping of renowned playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Arshad Javed announced the verdict on Monday, convicting Amna Urooj, Mamnoon Haider, and Zeeshan, while acquitting the remaining suspects.

Qamar, known for hit dramas such as Meray Paas Tum Ho and Pyarey Afzal, was abducted in the early hours of July 15, 2024, after being lured to a woman’s house in Lahore. Following the incident, he held a press conference to share the ordeal with the public.

According to the FIR filed on July 21 at Sundar Police Station under charges of kidnapping and terrorism, Qamar received a late-night call from an unidentified number. The caller, introducing herself as Amna Urooj, claimed to be a fan and expressed interest in collaborating on a television drama.

Qamar agreed to meet her and arrived at the given address around 4:40am. Shortly after entering the house, seven armed men stormed in, conducted a body search, and took Rs60,000 in cash, an iPhone 11, a Bank Al-Habib ATM card, and his national identity card.

The FIR further revealed that the kidnappers accessed one of Qamar’s bank accounts, withdrawing over Rs200,000. They reportedly threatened his life and demanded a ransom of Rs10 million.

The ATC began hearing the case in August, putting 11 individuals on trial. Seventeen witnesses testified during the proceedings, including Qamar, his friend, law enforcement officers, and bank personnel.
