ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) — The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday set aside the appointment of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeezur Rehman, declaring the process “legally flawed.”
Justice Babar Sattar issued a detailed 99-page judgment, ruling that the appointment had not been made in accordance with the law.
The court directed that the chairman be removed from office with immediate effect and ordered that a senior PTA member be appointed as acting chairman until a permanent appointment is made.
The verdict came in response to a petition questioning the legality of Mr Rehman’s appointment.
