ISLAMABAD (RNN TV) — Pakistan on Sunday strongly condemned what it described as Israel’s latest attempt to convert areas of the Occupied West Bank into so-called “state property” and expand illegal settlement activities, terming the move a clear violation of international law.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan said the actions by the Israeli occupying power contravened international legal obligations as well as relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly.
“Such steps are in clear violation of international law and must be rejected by the international community,” the statement said, urging global actors to take concrete measures to end Israeli impunity and ensure respect for international law.
Pakistan maintained that continued settlement expansion and unilateral measures in the Occupied West Bank undermine prospects for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the region.
The Foreign Office reiterated Islamabad’s longstanding position on the Palestinian issue, reaffirming full support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
It also reiterated support for the establishment of an independent, viable and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Pakistan has consistently called for a negotiated two-state solution in line with relevant UN resolutions and international consensus, while urging the international community to play a proactive role in resolving the decades-old conflict.
