Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced a new mandate requiring all international players to participate in domestic cricket tournaments, aiming to strengthen the link between domestic and international cricket standards.
The decision, made during a high-level meeting at PCB headquarters on Monday, is designed to give emerging domestic players the chance to compete alongside seasoned international stars. Naqvi emphasized that this exposure will help groom local talent and raise the overall quality of Pakistan’s cricket.
“Only a strong domestic cricket structure can help us identify and nurture the best talent in the country,” Naqvi said. “Playing alongside international players will significantly enhance the skills and performance of our domestic cricketers.”
The meeting was attended by key figures including Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla, Head Coach Mike Hesson, and T20 captain Agha Salman. Discussions also covered preparations for the upcoming home series against South Africa and Sri Lanka, as well as tours to the West Indies and Bangladesh.
Usman Wahla provided a comprehensive update on the international schedule, logistical arrangements, and player readiness for these fixtures.
Chairman Naqvi further instructed officials to begin work on a new cycle of central contracts. These contracts are expected to be performance-based and transparent, potentially incorporating clauses linking player salaries to their participation in important domestic competitions.
Under Naqvi’s leadership, the PCB is focused on restoring the credibility and competitiveness of domestic cricket. “We are committed to upgrading the domestic setup to meet the demands of modern cricket,” he stated.
The PCB is expected to release an official statement soon, outlining the implementation timeline for these new policies.
