GUJRANWALA (Web Desk) — An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Gujranwala has delivered its verdict in the gun attack case involving Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, sentencing the main accused to life in prison.
The case, linked to an FIR registered at Wazirabad City Police Station, concluded with the court handing two life sentences to the prime suspect, Naveed—one for committing terrorism and another for the killing of a citizen, Moazzam.
In addition to the life terms, Naveed was fined Rs 1.5 million and received multiple prison sentences ranging from three to five years for injuring four individuals during the attack. All sentences will run concurrently.
Meanwhile, co-accused Waqas and Tayyab Jahangir Butt were acquitted due to lack of evidence. Advocate Imran Abbas Supraa, representing one of the acquitted, said the prosecution failed to produce any witnesses against his client.
The attack occurred on November 7, 2022, during PTI’s long march in Wazirabad, when Naveed allegedly opened fire, injuring Imran Khan and several others. Moazzam, a bystander, was killed in the incident. Naveed was arrested on the spot.
