A recent podcast on RNN TV featuring Senior journalist Naeem Hanif and Host Bushra Khan has brought to light a significant falling-out between former Prime Minister Imran Khan and senior journalist Mubasher Lucman.

The rift, as discussed in the podcast, reportedly stemmed from Lucman’s allegations of corruption within Khan’s government — with indirect references to Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi.
During the episode, Hanif narrated a behind-the-scenes account from the time of one of PTI’s major sit-ins (dharnas) at D-Chowk. Present at a pre-speech strategy meeting on a brown sofa were key political and media figures including Sheikh Rasheed, Shafqat Mehmood, Sabir Shakir, Mubasher Lucman, and Hanif himself. The meeting was scheduled with Imran Khan at 7 PM, with his speech set for 9 PM.
According to the account, Khan praised Lucman for his then-popular TV show Khara Sach and encouraged him to contest elections, even suggesting he was among the most popular personalities of the time. Lucman jokingly replied that if he were to run, it would be from Model Town — a remark that drew smiles, including from Shafqat Mehmood.
Later, Khan reportedly asked Lucman to check the size of the crowd gathering for the rally. Upon ascending the stage and waving to the crowd, Lucman returned with observations, with Naeem Hanif watching the entire episode unfold from close range.
The relationship took a dramatic turn when Lucman began questioning the integrity of certain departments in Khan’s administration. In a conversation behind closed doors, Lucman allegedly raised concerns about corruption involving figures like Usman Buzdar and pointed to Bushra Bibi’s alleged involvement. In response, Khan reportedly ordered him to “get out” of the room, abruptly ending their friendship.
The revelation offers a rare look into the inner dynamics of Khan’s political circle and the tensions that arose during his tenure. Neither Khan nor Lucman has publicly commented on the podcast or its claims at the time of publication.
