ISLAMABAD ( RNN TV ) – A bizarre sculpture featuring golden hands holding spheres caught widespread attention in the capital, sparking a wave of online trolling and criticism that led to its swift removal.
The monument, placed at a roundabout in Sector D-12 along Iran Avenue, quickly went viral — but not for the right reasons. Social media exploded with memes and sarcastic comments, with many users describing the design as confusing, inappropriate, and suggestive for a public space.
Facing intense backlash, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) stepped in, sending machinery to take down the sculpture. One part of the installation was removed immediately, while another was quickly covered with cloth to avoid further attention.
According to CDA officials, the monument was installed without official permission. A private company is said to have put up the sculpture without going through any formal approval process. “The design was never submitted for clearance,” a CDA spokesperson confirmed. “As soon as we were made aware of it, we acted right away.”
