RAWALPINDI (RNN TV) — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced the launch of a nationwide protest movement against the current government, declaring that he will lead the campaign from prison if necessary.
Speaking through his legal team following a meeting at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Imran Khan expressed frustration over the lack of relief from both the judiciary and the executive. “We are not receiving any relief from the courts or the executive. Whether the hearing on June 5 happens or not is a big question mark,” he said. “We hope for justice, but we cannot be pushed any further. Now, protests will take place across the country, and I will lead them from jail.”
PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar conveyed Khan’s message to the media, revealing that the former premier had officially decided to initiate a protest campaign. Unlike past movements that focused on Islamabad, this campaign will be decentralized, with demonstrations taking place nationwide.
Imran Khan reportedly said, “We have been cornered. We have no option left but to take to the streets. I will issue instructions for the movement from jail. This time, the movement must achieve concrete results. There will be obstacles, but we know how to handle them. I trust my party’s leadership, but I will personally lead this movement.”
Senator Ali Zafar emphasized the seriousness of the announcement, stating, “Imran Khan is fully committed, and this movement will be unlike anything seen before. He has tasked me with drafting a detailed protest strategy, which I will present to him during our next meeting.”
He added that consultations with lawyers and party leadership are underway to finalize the protest plan, which is expected to be rolled out within a few days. During the next meeting at Adiala Jail, Khan will personally assign responsibilities for the execution of the movement.
This latest development comes amid growing political tension and follows a wave of arrests and legal challenges faced by PTI leaders. Khan’s announcement signals a renewed phase of political confrontation and public mobilization in Pakistan’s ongoing power struggle.
